Keep on goin down Summerfield Road, and eventually you'll get to the turn off to Kenan's Mill.
Built in the mid 1800's, there was a skirmish between the Confederates and the Union on the site during the war. The Rebels must have won this one, for it is the only mill remaining on Valley Creek.
It produced water-ground meal, grits and corn for over 100 years. This viewpoint features the mills' falls. In the distance a hanging footbridge with orange-red sides leads to an old charcoal mill on the opposite side of the stream.
