For as long as I can remember, I have been in love with color. I set aside my crayons at age 9, when I became enchanted with oil paints, the same age at which I saved for and purchased my first camera. I am a self - taught painter. I sold my first painting at age 16, and began painting professionally over 30 years ago. I have worked predominantly in pastel and oils; painting still life, landscape and seascapes. I have been painting portraits, almost exclusively for the past 25 years.
While employed as Assistant Curator of Education at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts I created a participatory art observation - activity program designed for students in the City of Montgomery's Gifted Program. With each changing museum exhibit I developed an art activity for the students related to the specific exhibit. For example, with the display of "Great Drawings from the Collection of the Royal Institute of British Architects," I instructed the students in the use of an architect's scale and they were then encouraged to sketch out a "dream house." We had some wonderful houses, with many exuberant and futuristic designs.
For a time I owned a small art gallery- frame shop where we also sold art supplies and had painting classes in Mobile, Alabama.
I currently live in a rural location in central Alabama with my husband, in a house I designed and we built ourselves. We share it with 3 dogs, and 2 parrots. We have a peahen and a peacock, and a small flock of chickens.
We have one wonderful son, a delightful daughter in law and a beautiful baby granddaughter.
